Overview
Founded as a milling community along Ellicott Creek more than 200 years ago, the Village of Williamsville lies within the borders of the Town of Amherst. Its lively Main Street features numerous restaurants with a hometown feel as well as clothing stores, jewelry shops and other merchants. A popular spot to visit is Glen Park and its dramatic waterfall. Amherst State Park is nearby. Among the list of popular summer events are the Taste of Williamsville, Old Home Days and Music on Main, held every Thursday evening.
Local Museums/Landmarks
The Williamsville Water Mill, built in 1811, is one of the oldest commercial buildings still in use in Erie County. Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village displays important artifacts from the community’s earliest days as well as interactive programs and lessons. The Scottish Festival each summer is its biggest event.
