Overview Eden is a town in southwestern Erie County, bordered to the north by Hamburg, to the east by Boston, to the south by North Collins and to the west by Evans. This town of about 7,700 residents includes the hamlets of Eden and Eden Valley. Eighteen Mile Creek flows through the town. Eden is the home of the American Kazoo Company, founded in 1916 and now the only metal kazoo factory in the world. Officials tout Eden as a place with “rippling waterfalls, vast mountain views, serene open space and a touch of adventure.” Eden is noted for outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, picnicking, golfing and fishing. Graycliff Estate, designed by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is only seven miles northwest of Eden. Local Museums/Landmarks TThe Asa Warren House on Main Street, built in 1815 by Col. Asa Warren, a veteran of the War of 1812, was a stop on the Underground Railroad for fleeing slaves. Croop Mill is an historic lumber mill and grist mill built in the early 1800s. The American Kazoo Company has a museum depicting the company’s history as well as a demonstration of how kazoos are made. Graycliff Estate, built by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a popular tourist destination in nearby Derby.

Essentials Eden has a variety of small businesses, but residents here travel a short distance for most shopping needs. For retail, McKinley Mall in Blasdell has a variety of stores, such as Sears, Macy’s and J.C. Penney. For grocery shopping, Hamburg has two Tops Friendly Markets (on South Park Avenue and on McKinley Parkway); Wegmans supermarkets can be found in McKinley Parkway and in West Seneca, just northeast of Hamburg. The Eden Central School District is large geographically, covering about 70 square miles and including the towns of Boston, Evans, North Collins and Concord. The district, which has three schools on a 107-acre campus in the hamlet of Eden, has been noted for academic excellence, particularly with its music program. The closest hospital is Mercy Hospital in Orchard Park, about 13 miles northeast of Eden. The Eden Library is on East Church Street.
