Welcome to Eden, NY

Overview

Eden is a town in southwestern Erie County, bordered to the north by Hamburg, to the east by Boston, to the south by North Collins and to the west by Evans. This town of about 7,700 residents includes the hamlets of Eden and Eden Valley. Eighteen Mile Creek flows through the town. Eden is the home of the American Kazoo Company, founded in 1916 and now the only metal kazoo factory in the world.

Essentials

Eden has a variety of small businesses, but residents here travel a short distance for most shopping needs. For retail, McKinley Mall in Blasdell has a variety of stores, such as Sears, Macy’s and J.C. Penney. For grocery shopping, Hamburg has two Tops Friendly Markets (on South Park Avenue and on McKinley Parkway); Wegmans supermarkets can be found in McKinley Parkway and in West Seneca, just northeast of Hamburg.

Recreation & Entertainment

Outdoor activities, such as fishing, biking and hiking, are the biggest attractions in this area. The Eden Corn Festival is an annual festival with a parade, rides and car show. Neighboring Hamburg has a popular casino and is the site of the annual Erie County Fair. The Hamburg Palace Theatre offers discount movies, and McKinley Mall 6 is a larger, multi-screen movie complex. Also in Hamburg is the Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center. Orchard Park, home of Ralph Wilson Stadium and the NFL Buffalo Bills, is a quick drive northeast of Eden.

Transportation & Traffic

Route 62, heading north-south, crosses diagonally through the town of Eden. The New York State Thruway runs just west of Eden.

Pros & Cons

Eden is a small town that prides itself on its small-town appeal, with a well-regarded school district. You’re close to the annual Erie County Fair, a casino, and Ralph Wilson Stadium, the home of the Buffalo Bills.
